There's no easy answer on this except that in general the more you pay for white paint, the less it ';yellows.'; I haven't seen much difference in the dozen or so brands I've used over the past 40 years, but just pick a name brand and go for their highest-end gloss white. I suspect oil-base will yellow quicker than water-base, but I'm not positive.
Personally, I'd go visit the local Sherwin-Williams store, or some other major paint speciaty place and ask them about oil vs. gloss. Most of those places have a pretty savvy and experienced staff, and most of the managers and asst managers have been to a lot of training courses that help with questions like this.Whats the best white gloss paint that stays white the longest?
Most paint doesn't yellow easily nowadays and most people will redecorate before that might occur.
Whatever paint you buy it will only last as long as your preparation allowed it to perform well. Depending on how good the preparation, it is more likely to fall off before it went yellow.
Cheap paint is a false economy. A good standard for paint is Dulux, even though you pay a premium for the TV advertising.
A better paint than Dulux would be Sikkens Rubbol AZ, but it is more difficult to get a good finish with it. I have seen decorators struggle with it compared to Dulux which is a piece of cake to apply. If you were painting outside and not insisting on a perfect flat finish then Sikkens undercoat (onol) and gloss (Rubbol) would be the best. It is still a good looking finish, but I can get Dulux flat like a sprayed finish.
Any paint is dependant on how good it has gripped the surface underneath. So abrading every square centimetre to provide a key is as important as the quality of paint.
Dulux Trade white gloss is one of the worst for turning yellow in my experience, Crown Trade is very good and has been my personal preference for many years but now I use Johnstones trade ,it is an excellent paint and exceptionally good value in terms of cost when compared to Dulux and Crown.
