there should be a symbol on it that looks like a little container with a word like ';3M'; or ';10M'; on it...the number followed by the M means ';three months'; or ';ten months'; as in the expiration from purchase date. its of course and estimate to save their butts from being sued cuz someone used the same mascara for a year ;) lol which is not safe to do! check for the expiry dates!!How long does it take for a lip gloss/balm to go out of date?
Most cosmetics now have a little cosmetic container image on the package that says either 6,12, or 24. Most cosmetics last 12 months. Except mascara, you should not keep that longer than 6 months. Each application opens the container to bacteria from the air and your own lashes, which can eventually lead to an eye infection or pink eye.
Don't use items like foundations, or lipsticks/glosses past a year, you not doing anything but putting bacteria on your face.

What's a good color of lipstick/lip gloss for someone with very fair skin and red hair?
For daytime I麓d use a transparent or slightly! pinky or peachy gloss.
If your eyes are dark, like brown, use a light brown one that matches your eyes. A dark lip liner and transparent gloss is also very nice.
With blue or green eyes I麓d be a bit more daring and use dark red transparent colour
For going out and havin a ball a full bordeaux dark red would be great, just as anything between gold, copper and dark brown

Clear gloss without synthetics?
I am painting a staircase white. I want to add some stencilled designed to it and then apply a clear gloss varnish on top, to protect the designs below and add a gloss sheen to the surface.
I think polyurethane would work well but I want to use a natural product rather than a synthetic one. I looked at tung oil but was told that oils are only for wood whereas polyurethane can bind to anything - is this true?
Would waxes work? I know that gloss finishes are possible without synthetics because they were produced hundreds of years before synthetics were invented (e.g. french-polished floors in the Renaissance etc).Clear gloss without synthetics?
oil base poly would work, BUT it will turn the surface a golden/amber/yellow color. the best bet would be a water-based/acrylic polyurethane. benjamin moore makes a product called ';stays clear'; and minwax has polycrylic. either one would be ideal for that application. LAcquers are not recommended for floors. they do not provide adequate protection/durability on a floor. as far as the ';synthetic'; question, I would have to ask why you have an aversion to synthetic resins. in the case of water-based poly, they will be low odor, and much more gentle to use. they are the safest posible product to use in this application. you can try an oil based poly, but as I said, it will turn the surface a golden color, and since you painted it white, I don't think it would look good at all.Clear gloss without synthetics?
Lacquer is probably the material you have in mind. It is made from an insect (the lac beetle, I believe) and as such is completely natural and has been around for 100 years. Depending on how far it is refined, in can be very transparent or fairly amber in color. The color will be specified on the label. It is used in french polishing and was the finish of choice for a long time. One caveat; if the surface is subject to much wear, don't expect lacquer to hold up forever. Modern polyurethanes are much tougher.

If you can't get polyclens then try painters handcleaner from a proper decorators store - otherwise in 30 yrs I have never found anything effective.
Once it is dry you can only try to shave the gloss off with a single edged razor blade or even sandpaper depending on the carpet.
While it is wet you may get it off with polyclens brushcleaner. Do not use white spirit, as it just thins and spreads it around.

as you apply always work with a';wet edge'; don't stain a long section and then go back to the begining always try to work along that wet edge. a retarder and flatting agent should help you with the drying problem.

I have a thing for natural/nude glosses and one of my favorites is from Rimmel (found at Wal Mart and most drugstores) It's their Volume Booster lip gloss (I didn't buy it for volume, I bought it because of the beautiful color)

covergirl wetslicks is awesome! it is 100% not sticky and i love it! they have all sorts of shades i am light skin toned an i use guava splash. but go to covergirl.com and you can give them your info and they tell you the best shade to get to match your eyes, hair and skin.

I have a thing for natural/nude glosses and one of my favorites is from Rimmel (found at Wal Mart and most drugstores) It's their Volume Booster lip gloss (I didn't buy it for volume, I bought it because of the beautiful color)

The best plumper I have found has actually been Sugar, Pump 'em up by sugar cosmetics. It goes for about $12 at sephora, smells good, is not sticky at all, does not sting too much, and gives a very dramatic look. It does not last the entire day but does last when reapplyed about every three hours. It is portable and application is not difficult at all. It also adds a redish color to the lips. This is by far the best lip plumper out there, and it is much more convinient for an on the go modern lifestyle.

second- stain lips with lippencil
third- use MILANI or SMACKERS lipgloss. its smooth, cheap, and subtle.

They have a creme finish, so you can go for absolutely any look. And they last for about lets see...2 hours.

The only downside is the price.
So, what you should look for in a gloss is a non-runny formula that has a bit of stick to it.

anything natural will always work.. i LOVE gloss.. my favorite for staying put and glossy is MAC LipGlass, the original in the tube.. I will always remember one of the first time wearing it, I wore it to the movies and even after soda and popcorn, I came out of the movies with gloss still on my lips.. but you have to be careful, a little goes a LONG way..
if you want a color on your lips i suggest a stain, but be careful with those, as they are tricky to use, but your lips will have color ALL day, just slap some gloss on it and you are good to go!

anything natural will always work.. i LOVE gloss.. my favorite for staying put and glossy is MAC LipGlass, the original in the tube.. I will always remember one of the first time wearing it, I wore it to the movies and even after soda and popcorn, I came out of the movies with gloss still on my lips.. but you have to be careful, a little goes a LONG way..
if you want a color on your lips i suggest a stain, but be careful with those, as they are tricky to use, but your lips will have color ALL day, just slap some gloss on it and you are good to go!

I am creating a business seeling my photographs, they will be framed ect, but which paper should I use to print my photographs on? Demi-permanent colors open up the cuticle and start depositing inside your hair shaft, without breaking down any pigment in your hair, it doesnt get right down to the cortex either. manic panic is a true semi-permanent, natural instincts from clairol says its semi- permanent but is a demi-permanent. Since your hair structure is not altered in any manner, using a clear semi permanent to give it some shine will keep you hair in a virgin state. Just be sure its a true semi permament. you shouldnt have to mix anything into it. read the box, im not very familiar with drug store labeling, but if I remember correctly, there are different types of hair color, a semi is either a type 1 or a type 2. read the ingredients if you can find them, there should be no ammonia or hydrogen peroxide in it at all. If youre really concerned about the integrity of you hair and youre not looking to alter its color, why dont you just use shine products? biosilk shine therapy serum or shine on spray is good stuff. if your not looking into applying daily try halo high shine rinse. after your shampoo apply it, put on a shower cap, and warm it up with a hairdryer for 5 minutes, back in the shower, rinse and condition. only do that once a week for crazy intense shine. Its not a coloring product, it just coats your hair in shiney goodness. you could also try matrix shade memory foam. shampoo, use the mousse, leave it in for 5 minutes, rinse and condition. it has mild coloring agents that just temporarily stain your hair, enhancing certain tones *depends on which mousse you use, can make it warmer, cooler, redder, or ashy, they have 6 shades* aswell as adding lots of shine. its not a color process, it just plays up tones, and doesn't alter the structure or your hair. use that twice a week. happy hairstyling!

I usually use gloss or semi-gloss on the woodwork and satin on the walls. We have an old house and the walls aren't always perfectly smooth. A semi-gloss makes the imperfections stand out more. A satin will still have a little light reflecting sheen to it, be nearly as scrubbable as semi-gloss but still hide those irregularities.
But when painting with a product that is semi-gloss or satin you need to be sure to roll it all the same way or you can end up with roller marks much easier than with flat. What I do is paint an area, let's say 4' and then take the roller and roll the entire section down from ceiling to floor lightly. This helps put the paint all in the same direction so to speak. And don't freak if the wall seems streaky at first. It takes longer for paints with gloss in them to blend out. I've used paints that it took a week.
And the ';keeping a wet edge'; is more important with this type of paint also. Helps the sections blend into each other better.

Can I mix a quart of semi-gloss latex paint with a crafter's acrylic paint to tint the semi-gloss?
you can only if you are mixing very small quantity as in painting a chipped paint. Latex house paint are too opaque and you will need more than just crafter's acrylic paint to tint it, instead you will need Acrycolor, or water based tinting color. Remind you not to use Tinting Color for Oil Paints...as you know water and oil do not mix.

Use the cover girl ones, they look really good, taste good, and most of them come with this other lipgloss that just makes it shine and it's like a cover to the original lip gloss.. it wont wear off unless you wipe it really hard

Apparently one of my dogs got ahold of a one of my lip glosses and he chewed a hole through it and it leaked all over the brand new suede couch. Any ideas on how to get it out?Lip gloss stain on a suede couch?
Is it microsuede? Thats what I have and I get a lot of stains daily from my dog, husband, and 2 year old. I always keep a box of unscented baby wipes around and whenever I see a stain I gently rub it with the wipe and it dissapears. You could also use hand sanitizer. Make sure you check you couch somewhere for some sort of cleaning code. There should be one somewhere. Here are what the codes mean as to what is appropriate to use for cleaning.
S Clean only with dry cleaning solvent. Do not saturate. Do not use water. Pile fabrics may require brushing to restore appearance. Cushion covers should not be removed and dry cleaned.
SW Spot clean with upholstery shampoo, foam from a mild detergent, or mild dry cleaning solvent. Do not saturate with liquid. Pile fabrics may require brushing to restore appearance. Cushion covers should not be removed and dry cleaned.

Start by applying a sheer layer of Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15 over the lips followed by a dusting of loose or pressed powder. Next, choose a lip-colored liner that will match with your lip hue because it will give the gloss something to stick to. Finally, coat your lips twice with a lip gloss.
Mineral powder works well on the eyes too.
Use a waterproof mascara, and long-lasting gloss. Also, try this sealant product, that can go over eyes, lips, and brows.
It may be the quality of the makeup, it may not. If you use a base or primer your makeup will last all day. A good base for eyeshadow would be Urban Decay Primer Potion or MAC Shadesticks. They work wonders. If you are looking for something a little cheaper, you could use a regular chapstick or white eyeliner. What you want to do it put just a little on and blend it into your skin on your eyelids and then put the eyeshadow on top. The white eyeliner is great because not only does it help stick all day but also makes the colors pop. For mascara, get a waterproof mascara. For lips, try putting a tiny bit of face concealer on underneath the lip gloss. Hope this helps.

It has a very light scent, it's sheer (with a bit of shimmer!), it moisturizes...and it's like $2-3 for a tube. As long as you can get over the whole little kid imagery, you really can't beat it.
Try aquafina hydrating oil. You can find them at walmart and I have the blue one but the red one may color a little bit.

Photo Contest: Better to use Gloss or Matte Finish?
I am entering a photo contest that requires a color print of the digital photo. I have a few to use, but where I get them processed has two options: gloss or matte finish.
1) Which is more professional looking, and will yield the best result? I am under the impression that professionals will be reviewing the pictures.
2) Second, the maximum required size given by the contest is 9 x 12';. Is 8x10 the best size, or is it overkill?

i would do 9X12 so they can see everything they want. matte is usually what professionals use for their work. glossy prints are usually what is used by ';common folk'; for every day printing of smaller pictures.

8x10 is a good standard.
Gloss can look more professional and really shine. However, some photo contests are particular about glare. Gloss produces unwanted glares of light. Matte does not. I think Matte can be very classy too.
I've always been told that its easier to make a nice glossy print and more of a challenge to make a striking matte print. But if you do, the results are amazing!
I've been using Epson ';Premium Luster Photo Paper'; for special photographs. It's kind of half-way between matte and glossy. I'd say it's a textured glossy paper that has a fine dimpling to the surface. It shows colors well, but does not have any smooth, flat areas that would cause glare.

That is one reason why scientific and technical photographs (including electron micrographs) are ALWAYS printed on glossy paper, the second being that the printer wants them that way. Matte finish diffuses a photo like you said, so it is ideal for portraits where you want any blemishes masked. Glossy brings out color. Alot has to do with the developing - make sure you go through a place that custom prints. Good luck!

i would do 9X12 so they can see everything they want. matte is usually what professionals use for their work. glossy prints are usually what is used by ';common folk'; for every day printing of smaller pictures.

Gloss can look more professional and really shine. However, some photo contests are particular about glare. Gloss produces unwanted glares of light. Matte does not. I think Matte can be very classy too.

Lipgloss is great if you have thinner lips because a glossy finish creates the illusion of a fuller lip. As far as color is concerned, you should have a few different colors in your purse at all times. You probably need to take a trip to the cosmetics dept. in your local department store and have a consultant pick some colors that will look great and compliment your skin tone. I work for Clinique and find it to be a great value. Clinique even has a glossy lipstick...you can kill two birds with one stone. Wear whatever you feel comfortable with. There are some very glossy lipsticks out which can give you the glossiness of a lip gloss in a stick.
I would say that a gloss is more manageable. You can pretty much put it on without a mirror and a touch up is pretty simple.
Lipsticks I find are harder to touch up without a mirror and some don't look right without the lip liner underneath to make them last longer.
Try one of each and use with one you like.
I would say go with plum colours... deep reddy purples and soft plum hues.

Who say you can not wear lip gloss at 37, my mom is almost 48 years old, and she wears lip gloss and it looks really nice on her, She uses the light pink, peach and clear colors, on top of her lipstick and it looks nice, and if you like lip gloss then just buy it, but if you re undecided on what color to buy, go to the makeup department at the mall and they can help you. And you only young as you feel, and 37 its not old at all.
Wear what you think suits you and you are more comfortable with. Lipstick makes a woman look more sophisticated while lipgloss makes a woman look a few years younger but lip gloss if def. cheaper than lipstick. A good colour would be red or brownish red lipstick and for lipgloss maybe somethng pale. Don't go for something too shiny. If not, the people at the makeup counter could decide whether lipstick or lipgloss would be perfect for you. The colour too as different colours bring out certain features of your face
lipstick...not to make fun or anything but i think at 37, lipstick would look better than lip gloss...most lip gloss are for teens and girls in their early twenty's i think. Lipstick are solid with a variety of solid colors...if u were to ask me, i think using lip gloss wouldn't all that great at this age...
as for brands, it's really up to you on what you like. for example, at walgreens they have a variety collections with a lot of different lipstick....really, it's personal choice if u ask me

For what brands you should buy, look for Covergirl, or maybelline. if you want a bigger variety of colors to try, look for rimmel underground. A good color for u would probably be just one tone darker than your lip color for a sun-kissed look.(i got that from my beauty book!) For your dark hair, a shade of pink would look most natural on you. or you could try earth tones like light browns, carmels, brick reds and corals.
Lipstick ,lip gloss is more for teens and little girls,try going to makeup department and asking a lady what color would be best for you,tell her you don't want a really expensive lipstick,as i said lip gloss is for teenagers,lipstick makes you feel and look more mature and more classy lip gloss makes you look like you are trying to look really young,But choose whatever makes you feel best and don't pay attention to hwat people say you are not too old.

you can still use either; it just depends on color %26amp; formulation (esp for lipsticks). there are also other things to consider such as lip shape, lip condition, occassion or time of wearing.
let me elaborate:
lip shape
*thin lips - those w/ thin lips should go for lighter shades
%26amp; formulations with ';light-diffusing particles';. this helps
create the illusion of fuller lips. darker colors would
further accentuate thinness.
*full lips - darker shades in creamy formulations is more
suited to this lip type.
lip condition:
*dry, flaky lips - go for lipsticks with moisturizers like vit e
%26amp; jojoba oil. avoid matte lipsticks at all costs!
with your coloring i would suggest colors like mauve, brownish-pink hues or if you're feeling a bit diva-ish, go for a deep red! personally i use The Body Shop's Colourings. They have a great assortment of lip products to choose from. my fave lipstick color is Toffee. (i have drk brown hair %26amp; golden brown eyes...and im 34!)
There is nothing wrong with wearing lipgloss at your age. Lipgloss can be worn over lipstick of the same shade. MAC has such a great line of lipstick and lipglass. Try Viva glam V. It is the only lipstick I've ever known that looks good on EVERYONE, and if you're a little iffy about the pricetag, know that every single cent of that sale will go to MAC AIDS fund.

Who say you can not wear lip gloss at 37, my mom is almost 48 years old, and she wears lip gloss and it looks really nice on her, She uses the light pink, peach and clear colors, on top of her lipstick and it looks nice, and if you like lip gloss then just buy it, but if you re undecided on what color to buy, go to the makeup department at the mall and they can help you. And you only young as you feel, and 37 its not old at all.
Wear what you think suits you and you are more comfortable with. Lipstick makes a woman look more sophisticated while lipgloss makes a woman look a few years younger but lip gloss if def. cheaper than lipstick. A good colour would be red or brownish red lipstick and for lipgloss maybe somethng pale. Don't go for something too shiny. If not, the people at the makeup counter could decide whether lipstick or lipgloss would be perfect for you. The colour too as different colours bring out certain features of your face
lipstick...not to make fun or anything but i think at 37, lipstick would look better than lip gloss...most lip gloss are for teens and girls in their early twenty's i think. Lipstick are solid with a variety of solid colors...if u were to ask me, i think using lip gloss wouldn't all that great at this age...
as for brands, it's really up to you on what you like. for example, at walgreens they have a variety collections with a lot of different lipstick....really, it's personal choice if u ask me

For what brands you should buy, look for Covergirl, or maybelline. if you want a bigger variety of colors to try, look for rimmel underground. A good color for u would probably be just one tone darker than your lip color for a sun-kissed look.(i got that from my beauty book!) For your dark hair, a shade of pink would look most natural on you. or you could try earth tones like light browns, carmels, brick reds and corals.
Lipstick ,lip gloss is more for teens and little girls,try going to makeup department and asking a lady what color would be best for you,tell her you don't want a really expensive lipstick,as i said lip gloss is for teenagers,lipstick makes you feel and look more mature and more classy lip gloss makes you look like you are trying to look really young,But choose whatever makes you feel best and don't pay attention to hwat people say you are not too old.

you can still use either; it just depends on color %26amp; formulation (esp for lipsticks). there are also other things to consider such as lip shape, lip condition, occassion or time of wearing.
let me elaborate:
lip shape
*thin lips - those w/ thin lips should go for lighter shades
%26amp; formulations with ';light-diffusing particles';. this helps
create the illusion of fuller lips. darker colors would
further accentuate thinness.
*full lips - darker shades in creamy formulations is more
suited to this lip type.
lip condition:
*dry, flaky lips - go for lipsticks with moisturizers like vit e
%26amp; jojoba oil. avoid matte lipsticks at all costs!
with your coloring i would suggest colors like mauve, brownish-pink hues or if you're feeling a bit diva-ish, go for a deep red! personally i use The Body Shop's Colourings. They have a great assortment of lip products to choose from. my fave lipstick color is Toffee. (i have drk brown hair %26amp; golden brown eyes...and im 34!)
There is nothing wrong with wearing lipgloss at your age. Lipgloss can be worn over lipstick of the same shade. MAC has such a great line of lipstick and lipglass. Try Viva glam V. It is the only lipstick I've ever known that looks good on EVERYONE, and if you're a little iffy about the pricetag, know that every single cent of that sale will go to MAC AIDS fund.

You may want to consider exfoliating your lips. Try using a bit of salt on a toothbrush and scrub. Don't overscrub, though. You can also lighten your lips by applying a concealer(fair or light tone) before applying lipstick. It will benefit you two ways: lighten the lips(temporarily) and make the lipstick stay on a bit longer.

I'm not a guy, but I can tell you from personal experience that any guy I have ever kissed would not want me to be wearing lip gloss. It's sticky and messy and usually leaves them looking like they applied some lip gloss themselves. I'd vote no on that one. However, my boyfriend is a fan of chapstick while making out, which doesn't cause the big sticky mess that lip gloss would, but still leaves your lips super smooth. Is it better to make out wit lip gloss or with out ?
i dont think your man wants to have lip gloss on him unless it tastes good. try a tinted lipbalm or a lipgloss that tastes minty.

i believe that covergirl has one thats called something along the lines of amazamint or something
ok i'm not a guy, but i'm guessing he'd prefer it if you werent wearing a sticky, colored lipgloss, cause it'd get around his mouth and stuff and also it kinda tastes bad if you get it on your tongue. so if your making out, i suggest a really nice tasting chapstick like vanilla or a fruit flavor
i have this kiwi lipgloss that i wear. i dont put alot just a tade. and my boyfriend really likes it. he advises me to put it on everytime he sees me.
but every guy is different and some glosses tase really bad. so i'd be careful

Chapstick! It's not sticky and won't make the other's lips glossy looking or sticky. If you want color though, use a lip stain before and then put the chapstick on.
