How do you get gloss paint out of a leather sofa?

white gloss paint, brown leather sofaHow do you get gloss paint out of a leather sofa?
Get ';pure silicone spray'; NOT (WD-40), from a hardware store. Spray on the paint, and rub gently yet continually on the spot, with a soft clean cotton rag. The silicone will loosen the adhesive property's of the paint, and not harm the Leather. It won't stain either, it just evaporates, leaving a ';waterproof'; barrier for further protection of the fine Leather. How do you get gloss paint out of a leather sofa?
Silicone spray will seal up the surface of the leather and make it impossible to do any further repairs to it.

Leather should not be waterproofed as it needs moisture to keep it soft and supple. Report Abuse

Brush cleaner will get rid of it.
About as easy as blood from a stone.
Turps or white spirit. Wont harm it. Just remove gently ok
If paint will not clean off with LTT Maxi Cleaner (www.LTTsolutions.net) it is unlikely to be removed with anything that will not also damage the leather finish. A good technician should be able to reduce the paint and colour over any residues.

If you do have a paint spillage:

Remove excess wet paint using a knife, wallpaper scraper etc. taking care not to scratch the surface and working from the outside to the inside of the spill so as not to spread it further. Once the bulk is removed mop up the rest with a cloth or paper towel again working from the outside. The remainder should now be cleaned ideally with a foam leather cleaner (LTT do a ready to use foam cleaner) but warm soapy water can be used if leather cleaner is not to hand. All of these processes need to be carried out before the paint dries. The object is to remove as much of the paint before it dries as possible. This will make whatever processes are necessary to finally restore the leather more effective.

Do not be tempted to use products such as brush cleaner, white spirit, turps, nail varnish remover etc as these are likely to damage the leather finish and make final repairs difficult or impossible.

Once the paint is dry there is nothing that can safely be used without damaging the leather and it is best to contact your insurance company or a good leather technician.

Trained technicians throughout the country can be found by contacting LTT on 01423 881027.

You dont, treat yourself to a new one
Get a spray can of ether ';Qwik Start'; engine starting fluid at Wal- Mart or any auto parts store.

Spray it on the paint...not too much. The ether will freeze the paint and it will crack off...bit-by-bit with as you rub it with a cloth or a Q-tip.

Won't damage the leather at all....
Try a light Turpentine oil. Rub it getly.

Use fresh cloth or Pare towel each time.
gloss is oil based and so is petrol but petrol contains thinners so use petrol to breakdown the paint and rub it off , allow it to dry and then use normal shoe polish to restore the leather .
nail polish remover, or some whiskey...that should work, it removes spray paint from the carpet
Take a small amount of charcoal lighter fluid on a towel and rub it into the paint. If it's on thick, you might have to keep adding lighter fluid to the towel. Once you've got it off, then you can just use soap and water to clean the area.
try spraying some hairspray then wipe with kitchen roll, or white spirts but very little on a cotton cloth
Use a Kango. !!
I don`t know but DO NOT use turps you will never get the smell out...previous experience.
